  • Father's cousins currently play pro ball, Jordan Smith for the Cincinnati Reds and Egan Smith with the Toronto Blue Jays organization
  • Serves as a member of the Cougar Council representing all BYU student-athletes
  • Married BYU softball player Ashlee Brawley in December 2012

Before BYU

  • Prepped at Lone Peak High
  • In 2010 he was 5A MVP by the Deseret News
  • Two-time first-team all-state, batting .532 with 10 homers, 14 doubles and 35 RBI as a senior
  • As a junior, he batted .463, had an on-base percentage of .536, hit 11 doubles, five home runs and drove in 32 runs
  • Played for Jeff Scholzen on the Angels Scout team
